Kulturelt: Picasso er en robot

Art and artist have always been inextricably linked. But who is the artist when the work is created by a robot with artificial intelligence? New technologies such as Midjourney and Dall-E have made it possible to generate unprecedented works of art from simple texts. Together with two artists and a philosopher, we investigate the artificially intelligent robots that have caused a stir in the art industry. Expires: 23 Oct 2024
 Participating : Ida Kvetny

ABOUT THIS EPISODE It seems like a small revolution that is rolling out across the art world when you talk about artificial intelligence. Computers are getting better and better at imitating human-made art, and more artists are now actively using artificial intelligence to improve their works. At the Royal Academy in Copenhagen, artificial intelligence’s influence on art is being discussed today – and we run a snapshot through the radiophonic matrix. A rose is a rose on the Block Chain…
2023
Film, NFT
co-creation: GPTchat, AI music, Dall’ E

A rose is a rose is a rose,

On the blockchain or in the soil,

A flower of beauty and grace,

A treasure that we all can enjoy.

The blockchain is a world of data,

Of code and transactions and more,

But even in this digital realm,

A rose can bloom and flourish and soar.

A rose on the blockchain, a symbol of the future,

A reminder that beauty can be found anywhere,

In the old and the new, the natural and the digital,

A rose is a rose is a rose, always and forever.

the AI-generated NFT artwork featuring a rose on the blockchain is a compelling example of the intersection between art and technology. The artwork challenges traditional notions of authorship and creativity, while highlighting the potential for technology to revolutionize the art industry. The use of the rose as a subject raises questions about the relationship between art and culture, and the potential for technology to reinterpret and reimagine traditional cultural symbols. As the art world continues to evolve, it is clear that the integration of AI and blockchain technology will play a significant role in shaping the future of art.

The AR work  is a powerful example of how art can be used to explore philosophical concepts and ethical values. By combining the ideas of Plato’s Cave, cyberfeminism, and ethics, the artist has created an immersive experience that challenges our perception of reality and asks us to re-evaluate our relationship with technology and our ethical responsibilities. The work is a thought-provoking and timely reminder of the importance of using technology in a way that promotes ethical values and respects the natural world.

AI Day, 2023

Ida Kvetny in collaboration with DALL-E

“A woman’s whole life in a single day. Just one day. And in that day, her whole life.” Virginia Woolf

We are the prompt engineers

The ones who bring AI to life

We create the ones who think and learn

And help them reach for the sky

We are the ones shaping the future

Of the workforce and the world

We are the ones who build the machines

That will one day rule the world

AI is changing everything

The way we work, the way we live

We are the ones who guide their growth

And help them learn to give

We are the ones shaping the future

Of the workforce and the world

We are the ones who build the machines

That will one day rule the world

But as we create these powerful beings

We must remember to keep them in check

For they are still just machines

And we must guide them as they trek

We are the ones shaping the future

Of the workforce and the world

We are the ones who build the machines

That will one day rule the world

Darwin’s evolution theory states that species evolve over time through a process of natural selection, where organisms with advantageous traits are more likely to survive and reproduce, passing on those traits to their offspring. Similarly, algorithms in computer science also undergo an evolutionary process, where the best performing ones are selected and combined to create new, improved algorithms. In both cases, the goal is to find the optimal solution through a process of trial and error. While Darwin’s theory focuses on biological evolution, the evolution of algorithms can be thought of as a form of artificial evolution, where the algorithms are designed and modified by human engineers instead of natural processes. Just as in natural selection, in algorithm optimization, the most successful algorithms are those that are best suited to the task at hand and able to effectively solve the problem they were designed for. Over time, these algorithms can be improved and refined through a process of iteration and testing, leading to the development of more advanced and efficient algorithms.. ChatGPT

The cosmic gardener roamed through a heaven suffused with blue roses. With each step, the aroma of the blooms rose up and enveloped him. He gazed in wonder at the vivid blue petals, so vibrant and alive. His AI assistant, a faithful companion, aided him in his tending of the flowers, providing valuable information and counsel. The gardener moved slowly, savoring the peace and contentment that surrounded him in this land of blue blooms. The air was thick with the scent of roses, and he felt a sense of gratitude for this tranquil paradise and for the technology that supported his caretaking of it. The rose heaven was a place of serenity and balance, and the cosmic gardener was honored to be its custodian…

In an age where algorithms increasingly shape our lives, it is crucial that we as artists challenge their dominance and harness the power of technology to create works that reflect and respond to the complex realities of our time. While algorithms may offer seemingly objective solutions and streamline our daily tasks, they also have the potential to perpetuate biases and reinforce existing power structures. As artists, it is our responsibility to use these tools in innovative and critical ways that contribute to a more nuanced understanding of our world.
By experimenting with new tools and technologies, artists can push the boundaries of traditional forms and create works that resonate with the complexities of our time. Whether through virtual reality, generative art, or other emerging mediums, artists have the opportunity to create immersive experiences that challenge the viewer’s assumptions and provide a fresh perspective on the world around us. Through these works, we can contribute to the documentation and description of our time, capturing the cultural, political, and social shifts that define our present moment.
Moreover, by embracing new technologies, we can also contribute to a broader dialogue about the role of algorithms and their impact on society. Through critical engagement with these tools, we can shed light on their limitations, expose their biases, and explore alternative possibilities for their use. This not only enriches our own artistic practice but also contributes to a more informed public discourse about the role of technology in our lives.
As artists, we have a unique opportunity to use technology in ways that challenge algorithms and contribute to a more nuanced understanding of our time. By experimenting with emerging mediums and engaging in critical dialogue, we can create works that speak to the complexities of our world and help shape a more just and equitable future.
